Happy New Year!!!
Everywhere I turn people are commenting on how fast 2015 went. I am included in this mass group of, “where did this year go?” How often we get to the end of the year and are stressed from the hustle and bustle of the holidays. Luckily, this year in Wisconsin, our weather was rather nice. A lot of rain throughout the summer and a nice long fall, which is very uncommon! We usually hit winter weather in November. Fall was nice to us – it stuck around for a while and didn’t receive any ‘significant’ snow until December 28 and 29th. I’m okay with this because it’s officially the winter season!
Every year I love to sit and reminisce the year. This year I had many changes that came with a lot of growth. Up until this year I was working 2 additional part time jobs, in addition to Jodi’s Personal Chef and Culinary Services. In Dec 2014 I was faced with a decision of becoming a co-owner of a restaurant. After serious and in-depth thinking (and praying), the answer led for me to focus on my business. About a month after that decision I took on a project and an extra client that led me to drop being a cook at that restaurant. Then in June, because of more growth in my business I was able to drop my other job, Kitchen and Food Coordinator at Hope Gospel Mission, a program that was designed to rebuild homeless and struggling individuals. Finally, after 5 years in business I was able to pursue my dream Full-Time. What an accomplishment and I also feel very privileged and honored to have worked with the people I have worked with over the years. Without them and the experiences I would not be where I am today.
In the beginning of 2015, I had the wonderful opportunity to create recipes for the Wisconsin Sheep Dairy Association. I had so much fun sampling sheep cheese and creating some recipes for them to use! I am finding recipe development is a passion I’d like to explore even more.
Throughout the year, a major milestone that was accomplished was having my new website with video developed and launched by Jim Zons of EZ New Media. I am so happy to provide this to my existing and potential customers!
In the hot, steamy summer month of July, I attended my first Personal Chef Conference hosted by the USPCA (United States Personal Chef Association) in San Antonio, TX. I loved it so much and met so many other wonderful personal chefs I’m excited to attend the one in Providence, RI in 2016!
Fall brought me to start teaching cooking classes through the Menomonie High School Community Ed and also partnering with a couple other local businesses for some evening events. On a personal side I had the opportunity to finish remodeling my home in the second half of the year which brought on it’s own stresses and glories! Enough stresses to give praises to be finished with any remodeling for hopefully a very, very long time! After several more grays added to my hair I have a beautiful 3-season porch that I occasionally shift my office from upstairs to downstairs just to enjoy the view and make plans for the upcoming year.
Throughout the year I’ve had several cooking dates with new and existing personal chef customers, cooked for an employee Christmas Party, 2 anniversary parties, one wedding reception and a graduation party.
I am so thankful for everyone who has made my 2015 such a wonderful and joyful year! It has been a privilege and honor working with you!
So what is 2016 going to bring? That is the excitement! Not only more Community Ed Classes but other Cooking Classes and Demos given in various locations throughout the community and/or in private homes. I am looking forward to obtaining more personal chef clients, doing more in home dinner parties and other in-home special events. I will also be working on becoming a Certified Personal Chef through the USPCA. Having the availability to provide my Personal Chef Services on a full-time basis allows for so much more growth and amazing opportunities that I can’t wait to explore and share with all of you!
I only get more and more excited to see the opportunities I have had this fast paced year and know through continued determination, outreach opportunities and working with existing and new customers that I can only hope Reminiscing 2016 will be even more exciting! I hope this is an amazing year for all of you as well!
